Swimming and Sun at Ottawa Beaches

Whether you’re splashing around or just soaking up the sun, there is no better place on a warm summer's day than at one of the Ottawa area's public beaches. During the summer months the city of Ottawa keeps a close eye on the swimming conditions around the city by testing the water regularly.

Ottawa's Most Popular Beaches:

Britannia Bay

Located on the Ottawa River 
This beautiful beach in Ottawa's west end is the perfect spot to spend a summer day. Go for a swim, watch sailboats in the bay, or enjoy a picnic with family and friends!

2805 Carling Avenue 
Take Richmond Road to Britannia Road, or follow the Ottawa River Parkway bike path.  

Petrie Island 

Located on the Ottawa River
This scenic beach in Ottawa's east end is the perfect destination for a day trip. Enjoy the beautiful sand and terrific views!

727 Trim Road
Take Highway 174, turn onto Trim Road.

Mooney's Bay 

Located on the Rideau River

A lively beach located near Carleton University, Mooney's Bay is a great place to swim, play volleyball, or enjoy the nearby tennis courts!

2926 Riverside Drive
Take Riverside Drive just north of Walkley Road. Or take Colonel By Drive bike path to Hog's Back. Cross Meadowlands Drive and take the path through the marina.

Westboro

Located on the Ottawa River 

Enjoy the serenity of a warm summer's day at Westboro Beach, a small beach perfect for families.

Follow the Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway (formerly the Ottawa River Parkway) to the Kitchissippi Lookout.
